2013 Valerie’s Vineyard Pinot Noir is Here!



The 11th vintage, the 2013 Valerie’s Vineyard Pinot Noir may be the best ever! Valerie’s terroir driven one-acre Carneros vineyard has come of age and we think that vintage to vintage this one is another winner, very Burgundian. The California drought has somewhat spared us, we were able to keep the right amount of water on the vines and the added stress has created a complex wine. The winemaking and attention to detail in the vineyard has never been better. We had solid success with the 2012 in New York and locally and we received some great press including 90 scores in some top publications. Like every vintage, the ‘12 is now sold-out.

The 2013 extols a rich velvety mouth-feel and well balanced fruit, oak and tannins. The cherry/plum flavors blend with traditional Burgundian nuances such as cola and tea.

The French oak program of new and two-year old French oak from numerous makers has created a unique flavor profile and aging regimen. The wine lives no less than 18 months in the oak. Winemaker Jeff McBride and the bio-dynamic practices of Valerie’s new winemaking home at Benziger Family Winery fit our farming practices and style perfectly.

There were 93 cases produced of 2013. The wine retails at $40 bottle depending where it is purchased. Get this while you can from fine restaurants in Sonoma Valley including Della Santina, Saddles, Carneros Bistro plus Broadway Market.
